Contractors

Who are the Home Performance participating contractors?

Contractors participating in New Jersey's Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® meet the certification and accreditation guidelines of the Building Performance Institute (BPI), the industry's resource for building science technology that sets the standards for assessing and improving the energy performance of homes.

  • Contractors' companies must be accredited by the Building Performance Institute (BPI) to participate in the program.
  • Technicians performing the audits must also be individually BPI certified, demonstrating that they have the knowledge to test your home and make recommendations based on building science principles.

As a Home Performance contractor, you can gain a competitive edge and increase your business opportunities.

Minimum requirements to participate:

  1. Have been in business for more than one year
  2. Be registered with the NJ Department of Revenue
  3. Be registered with the state of NJ as a business and have a NJ Home Improvement Contractor License
  4. Have a $1M general liability insurance coverage
  5. Have a federal tax ID number

If your company meets the minimum requirements, take the first step in becoming a participating contractor with Home Performance with ENERGY STAR and fill out the contractor application.

Once we receive your application, we will review it for all of the requirements and necessary documentation.  Upon approval, our account manager will contact you to schedule a program orientation during which we will go over the details of the program with you.
