COOLAdvantage Program

Utility customers who purchased HVAC equipment prior to July 1, 2021 may still submit their applications to NJCEP’s WARM/COOL Advantage Program for heating, cooling, and water heating equipment. Customers will have 180 days from the purchase date to submit their rebate.

Note that HVAC equipment purchased on or after July 1, 2021 may be eligible for utility-run rebate programs. Please contact your utility for program requirements and information on how to apply.

To learn more about this transition and for utility contact information please visit this page

The COOLAdvantage Program provides rebates for energy efficient central air conditioners or heat pumps as well as "best practices" on proper sizing and installation that affect operating efficiency

Do you first need a little guidance to help you make home energy upgrade decisions?  Review our "customer journey" to determine if you are experiencing any of the problems mentioned in your home.

For a status update of processing COOL and WARMAdvantage applications, please visit the HVAC Portal landing page. At this time it could take up to 150 days to receive your rebate.

Apply Online!

It is highly recommended that customers or contractors submit applications online for quick and easy submissions. The HVAC portal may also be accessed and utilized via Tablet and Smart Phones (Android, iPhone).

Note: Any heating and/or cooling equipment you install under New Jersey's Clean Energy Program may be subject to random verification inspections conducted by the program team.  Call 866-NJSMART should you have any questions.

COOLAdvantage Rebate Quicklinks
Please allow up to 150 days to receive a rebate.

Note: The State Energy Program (SEP) funding threshold has been met and therefore we are no longer accepting and processing SEP applications for oil, propane and municipal electric customers.

COOLAdvantage Checklist

  • Call Us.
Call 866-NJSMART to learn how to reduce your energy bill and receive rebates for choosing energy efficient equipment.  This HVAC Program Guide can help you understand what to expect as you apply for the rebate.
  • Get the Most for your Money.
Select a properly trained contractor certified by North American Technician Excellence (NATE). It's not just the quality of the equipment installed, it's also the quality of the installation. It takes good training and advanced technology to properly install today's high efficiency equipment.
  • Don't Cool the Outdoors.
Before putting in a new air conditioner or heat pump, schedule a Home Performance assessment to find out where energy is being wasted. If your home does not have enough insulation, or leaks too much air, even the most efficient unit will waste energy.

Note: Homes constructed under NJ's Residential New Construction Program are not eligible for the COOLAdvantage Program.
