Evaluation of the Home Energy Audit Tools
Description:

This study evaluated the need to expend funds on a residential home audit program given the availability of free residential home energy audits trhough a number of vendors including the DOE and EPA.  It was conducted in three stages:

  1. The first stage reviewed literature on the top and a review of similar evaluations;
  2. The second stage was a high level overview of the four audit tools available on the internet; and
  3. The third stage was the preparation of a comparison of the audit tools identified.

New Jersey Residential HVAC Baseline Study
Description:

This baseline study incorporates two main research elements. First, a market assessment based on surveys of the four (4) market groups that comprise the HVAC supply chain – manufacturers, distributors, dealers and customers. Second, a technical assessment of installed HVAC equipment characteristics and performance. This study presents –

  1. Findings on the size and structure of the residential HVAC market;
  2. Provides insight into HVAC product performance and reliability; and
  3. Identifies barriers to adoption of energy-efficient HVAC equipment and installation practices.


Objectives:

The study’s three (3) main objectives are:

  1. Develop information on how the NJ market for residential HVAC equipment functions;
  2. On the supply side of the market – identify key market actors and characterize barriers to the promotion of efficient equipment and installation practices, and characterize supply-side actors’ motivation to promote and install efficient equipment;
  3. On the demand side of the market – identify key customer segments and estimate their size, and characterize the barriers customers face to purchasing efficient equipment and installation services.

Baseline Study of Attitudes and Awareness of Key Market Actors in the NJ Residential New Construction and Renewable Technology Market
Description:

This study presents an up-to-date characterization of the New Jersey new construction market.


Objectives:

  • Baseline Measurement: The primary objective of the study is to establish a baseline that documents the current market for ENERGY STAR homes.
  • Program Design and Implementation: The secondary objective of the study is to enhance the Working Group’s understanding of the residential new construction market.
  • Customer Sited Clean Generation: In addition, this study will support the work of the Customer Sited Clean Generation Working Group (CSCG Working Group).
