Pay for Performance Program Partners
How do I get involved?
A critical component of Pay for Performance is the development of a network of program partners.
In order to become a Pay for Performance partner you must fill out and submit an application package. The Partnership Agreement and the Submission Requirements listed within the agreement will act as your application to become a Pay for Performance partner.

A panel will review your application package and we will notify you if you have been accepted to the program within 3 weeks of the submittal deadline. You will then be required to complete an orientation and training. Keep in mind that you cannot submit new projects to the program until you have successfully participated in the orientation. Approval as a partner is unique to the Pay for Performance program and is not transferable to any other programs. The SmartStart and Large Energy Users programs do not require any partnership pre-approval.

When are the deadlines?
Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis.
Who can qualify to become a partner?
The main qualification of a partner is evidence of having previously acted in a lead capacity on at least three commercial and industrial projects for which comprehensive energy efficiency scopes of work were developed and fully implemented. Extensive experience with building energy modeling is required. The qualifications are described in detail in the Partnership Agreement.
Typical partners include architecture, engineering, and energy consulting firms, including ESCOs.
Customers with large buildings (≥750 kW demand) or a campus of buildings may request to have internal staff qualified as a partner. Internal staff may include Professional Engineers, Certified Energy Manager, Building Energy Modeling Professionals, etc. If approved, internal staff is only allowed to represent their customer’s building(s) in the program. This opportunity will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Program Manager. All other program requirements will be in effect.
How will I get paid?
As a Pay for Performance partner, you will work directly with the program participant and negotiate applicable fees. All program incentives will be paid directly to the participant. Participants may sign over incentive payments to the Partner.
Are there any fees?
There are no fees associated with being a Partner. Although, if projects are not submitted to the program on a regular basis, approved Partners may be required to re-take the orientation and training webinar.
