A smart start now means better performance later! SmartStart offers fixed and savings-based incentives for selecting energy efficient equipment for building systems in new construction and substantial renovation projects.

Eligibility

• Applications must be submitted to the Program Manager within 12 months of equipment purchase. Additionally, in order to remain eligible for incentives, applications must be submitted prior to installation for:
  • all Custom Measures, and
  • Performance Lighting and Prescriptive Horticultural Lighting projects with incentives $100,000 or more

• All applicants are encouraged to obtain the Program Manager’s approval and an incentive commitment prior to commencing installation or construction. Customers implementing projects without the Program Manager’s approval do so at their own risk, including, among other things, the risk of having their project deemed ineligible for incentives.

Application Process
To get started, download the SmartStart Program Guide and application form linked below to confirm customer and product eligibility. Complete the application form, collect required documentation and submit the package for review via one of the methods listed on the form: email, mail, fax or online portal.

The online submission process will allow you to track the status of your application and if you create an account, you will be able to link all subsequent applications for ease of tracking, autofill of basic contact information fields on applications, and copy applications. You are encouraged to set up an account if you will be submitting multiple applications. View instructions here.

New Construction Forms and Documents

Customer Acknowledgement Letter: If you are a contractor or third party submitting an application on behalf of a customer, email and attach a customer acknowledgement letter that allows you to sign the application on their behalf.
