Benchmarking is a free service that provides a performance assessment and valuable information on how to get your project started. Benchmarking is available to hospitals and other healthcare facilities, municipalities, industries, hospitality, multifamily buildings, higher education facilities, K-12 schools, retail and other commercial accounts.
Energy Savings Improvement Program (ESIP)
NJ’s ESIP is a form of energy performance contracting that allows government entities to make energy-related improvements to their facilities using the value of energy savings that result from the improvements. The ESIP law was enacted in 2009 and updated in 2012. It provides all types of government entities – from school boards to municipalities to state governments – with a flexible tool to lessen their environmental impact, save money, and reduce their energy usage for minimal costs.
The Large Energy Users Program is designed to promote self-investment in energy efficiency and combined heat and power/fuel cell projects with incentives up to $4 million for eligible projects in the states' largest commercial and industrial facilities. To qualify, eligible entities must have incurred at least $5,000,000 in total annual energy costs aggregate of all buildings/sites.
Local Government Energy Audit (LGEA)
The Local Government Energy Audit (LGEA) Program is available for local government agencies, state colleges and universities, and 501 (c)(3) non-profit agencies and the cost of the audit is 100% subsidized through NJCEP. After a thorough analysis of the buildings, a detailed energy audit report with a list of cost-justified energy efficiency measures is provided which is a useful first step in the path to energy efficiency.
Investor-owned gas and electric utility companies now offer complementary energy efficiency programs directly to their customers. See below for information and links to utility providers.
