Commercial Existing Buildings Programs

The Large Energy Users Program is designed to promote self-investment in energy efficiency and combined heat and power/fuel cell projects with incentives up to $4 million for eligible projects in the states' largest commercial and industrial facilities. To qualify, eligible entities must have incurred at least $5,000,000 in total annual energy costs aggregate of all buildings/sites.

Benchmarking is a free service that provides a performance assessment and valuable information on how to get your project started. Benchmarking is available to hospitals and other healthcare facilities, municipalities, industries, hospitality, multifamily buildings, higher education facilities, K-12 schools, retail and other commercial accounts.

The Local Government Energy Audit (LGEA) Program is available for local government agencies, state colleges and universities, and select and 501 (c)(3) non-profit agencies and the cost of the audit is 100% subsidized through NJCEP. After a thorough analysis of the buildings, a detailed energy audit report with a list of cost-justified energy efficiency measures is provided which is a useful first step in the path to energy efficiency.

Investor-owned gas and electric utility companies now offer complementary energy efficiency programs directly to their customers. Visit this page for more information and links to utility programs.

As of July 1, 2021, the following NJCEP existing building programs have been transitioned to the local utilities as mandated by the Clean Energy Act of 2018. For more information on transition and to get utilities program information, visit this page.

The previous existing building programs offered by NJCEP can be found below. Certain programs will continue to offer incentives for equipment purchased prior to transition.
